Writing and Mental Health during Quarantine

3 Comments on Writing and Mental Health during Quarantine

Let’s face it, this past month has been nothing short of a constant dream state. There is no way that this has become our reality. And yet, here we are while most of the world is on lockdown. So let me take a moment and ask, how are you doing?

As a writer, you’d think this sudden change of pace and greater freetime would allow me to write. I mean I’ve been in a slump for a pretty long time. But with this virus and the constant new rules and regulations, it’s been hard mentally to focus on writing.

Quarantine is Hard

I don’t know about you, but it’s been so hard for me to sit down and write. I’d rather mindlessly scroll through social media or focus on cleaning my house. It’s like an extreme version of procrastination.

Motivation is Lacking

Being a writer comes with time where you lack motivation. Well, when the world you know is crashing down around you, it can be hard to stay motivated.

Stuck at Home

Like many of you, I’m stuck at home in quarantine. But that also means I’m stuck with the other people that live in my household. The added people means for more distractions and that can be really hard to get anything done.

Now I know it probably sounds like I’m complaining. And to a point, I am. It’s been very stressful these last few weeks with talks of it lasting for another couple of months. I’m thankful that my family and I have remained healthy during this time. I’m thankful that I have a family to surround myself with. I’m thankful that you are all here today. Now let’s keep staying healthy and staying home so that we can return to our normally scheduled lives.

I know this isn’t one of my usual posts. But this has been on my mind since this all started. So thank you for taking the time to read this post. I wish you all the best!
