The Moon Will Shine For Us Too – Jennae Cecelia Poetry Review

0 Comments on The Moon Will Shine For Us Too – Jennae Cecelia Poetry Review

When you pick up a book from your favorite author, you feel excitement. Knowing that you’re going to be reading more of their words. Then devouring every single sentence until the end. That’s how it always feels whenever I pick up a book by Jennae Cecelia. She just released her 10th book, healing for no one but me, in April. So, I thought this would be a good time to review another of her books, The Moon Will Shine For Us Too.

I love diving into a poetry book when I don’t feel like I have the time to read a novel. This poetry collection is a quick read, but tackles many different emotions and topics. From seeing the light in darkness to rising into yourself, The Moon Will Shine For Us Too is a collection that is great for helping you through tough times.

This poetry collection is a bit different from her previous collections as it’s much darker. It truly fits the title from the very first page. Now let me get into the details of this review.

Review

The journey reading this collection is different from any other collections I’ve read by Jennae Cecelia. There is something deeper and darker about the poetry that definitely is geared toward a specific audience. As much as I enjoy her writing, I did find myself more detached from this collection because of the tone. However, poetry is all about headspace when you’re reading it, and that’s why it’s alright that I didn’t connect during this readthrough.

poetry style

Jennae Cecelia writes in free verse poetry throughout this collection. It allows a nice stream-of-consciousness to get into the zone when you’re reading.

relatability

This collection is something I think a lot of people can relate to, especially over the past two years of the pandemic. As I mentioned before, this didn’t resonate with me, but I did like the inspiring tone and uplifting vibes of this collection.

emotion

The Moon Will Shine For Us Too is a darker collection from Jennae Cecelia’s typical work. It contrasts nicely to the first book The Sun Will Rise and So Will We. The darker themes are brought to life and really share the thoughts of when you struggle in life.

Overall

The Moon Will Shine For Us Too is a wonderful collection that really shares the emotional and physical toll life can have on your body and mind. If you’re someone that has ever struggled, this is definitely the book for you. I love the vulnerability of this collection. I can’t wait to read Jennae Cecelia’s newest book, title.
