Book Review: Malefica by Katie H. Weill

A Salem Witch style type story with twists and turns that you don’t see coming. Malefica is a unique story that follows the main character, Claudia, and her service dog, Luca. It’s right before Claudia’s 18th birthday and things start getting crazy.

I didn’t know what to expect when I started reading Malefica. Obviously, something to do with magic and witches, but I was wondering what could possibly happen. Then I started reading and was blindsided by the many plot twists that move the story forward. So let me tell you the pros and cons of this book.

Malefica is a plot-twisting and strong book that takes the Salem Witch Trials to the 21st century. The story is well-told and had me turning the pages trying to find out what would happen next. Before being thrown on a completely new and more exciting path. Although I didn’t enjoy Claudia’s beginning feelings toward Luca or what I think was an attempt at romance, I found Malefica to be intriguing till the very end.
