I know I’ve been a bit absent lately. There has been so many behind the scenes things going on that I haven’t had the time to devote to writing blog posts. You may be wondering what I’m talking about. So I’m going to let you in on what’s been going on in the life of author Jennifer Leigh.

1 Beta Reads, Edits, and Cover Design

If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that my upcoming book, Speaking the Truth of Christmas, is releasing in December. I’ve been extremely busy getting that to beta readers and doing edits. Also working with my cover designer to complete the cover to prepare for the cover reveal in November (more on that soon).

2 Formatting

I format my own books and novels in verse are a bit trickier than prose books. Making sure that the pages flow and are formatted properly takes a lot more time.

3 Research and Writing

Every writing project always comes with research. Everything I’m working on has some aspect of research that I’m working on.

4 Querying

Surprise! I’m in the process of querying my children’s books to agents. I’ve had this series in mind for a few years and have finally decided to take the steps to get them published. As much as I love self-publishing my YA books, I have a certain vision for my children’s books that I am unable to do without a publisher. Mainly, I want to publish these as board books which I’ve yet to be able to find as a self-publishing option.

So obviously this is all taking up a lot of my time. I’m excited to be taking these steps and also pretty nervous. These next few weeks are going to be a bit hectic as I’m going on vacation and I’m in a wedding, but I’m going to try to stay as consistent as I possibly can.
