Goodreads SynopsisVivian Blac’s second poetry collection, I write no color pictures, is both fearlessly emotional and intimate. i write no color pictures, with its raw honesty, addresses dysfunctional mother-daughter relationships, betrayal, sex, desire, and self-love. Vivian’s vulnerable voice glides through the pages of poetry and will stay with readers long after they’ve devoured her words.

I got this poetry collection when it was on sale on Kindle. What immediately drew me to the book was the cover. It is such a lovely cover. I had a great experience with this poetry collection, so let me tell you more about it!

The poems are written in free verse which is my favorite style. They are easy to read and flow nicely on the page. My only problem is that the punctuation seemed to be all over the place making for awkward pauses.

This poetry collection will be relatable to you if you’ve experienced: emotional abuse from a parent, child rape, sex, and love. Although, this collection wasn’t the most relatable to me, I feel like it clearly gets through a strong message even for those not affected by these events.

The emotion in this book is spot on. It’s raw. It’s emotional. And it’s heartbreaking. All of these emotions come through in i write no color pictures.

Overall

i write no color pictures is a raw and emotional read. It hits on some hard topics in such a meaningful way. Although there was a small problem with punctuation, it was still a very enjoyable poetry collection that I think is relatable for so many.
