If you’ve been following me on Twitter, then you know that this week has not been a great writing week for me. I have had almost no motivation to write, and would much rather be doing anything else. So to say it’s been a rough week would be a really accurate statement.
So yesterday, I spent a lot of time formulating ideas on where my WIP should go. It not only helped me regain my motivation, but it made me feel as if I have a really great story to tell. I’m a looking forward to the coming week. Of course, we will have to see what this week brings.
Here is my third update for NaNoWriMo 2017. For those who are just tuning in click here to learn more about NaNoWriMo.
Writing – Project: Split Views?
Here is the vague description that I have of this project.
Option #2: A guy wakes up and has no clue what has happened. He is where he fell, but things look different and yet still the same. It’s when he is driving down the road that he realizes the past is all around him, acting as if nothing has changed. He knows better though because it’s 2017 and that building he just drove by was demolished years ago.
I know I really should probably change this description, but I haven’t really thought of changing it yet. It still is the basis of the context of my WIP, but I’m not 100% in the direction that I want it to go just yet.
I also am currently running a poll for this project’s title. You can vote by clicking here. I would love to hear from you on what your thoughts are on the title. I’m really liking Split Views, but will gladly accept any suggestions. You can comment down below or on the post with the poll.
As I mentioned above, I’ve had a lack of motivation this week. I have been consistently over 800 words of the NaNo goal every day for the last week. Now, I’m just at the daily goal. It is a combination of not writing much and not making up those missing words any other day this week. I’m truly hoping that I’ll be able to get ahead this week. In addition, Thanksgiving is this Thursday, and I’m honestly not sure if I’ll have enough time to do it all.
Before I move onto my editing update, I want to let you all read a snippet of my WIP Split Views (working title)! This is subject to change as this is only draft one and has not had any editing done to it.
He slams his fists against the tan carpeted flooring. The room is unfamiliar to him. The red and tan floral curtains are pulled, making it impossible to know what time of day it is. How long had he been out? He lifts his head to see that he is in the middle of a bedroom. Wait. No. A hotel room. There is no reason why he would be at a hotel or is there?
Frustration glazes over him as he struggles to remember. Trying to stand but quickly realizing that he can’t. A throbbing sensation rips through his entire body. It must have been some fall. For a second time, he tries to stand. With a little more success than the first attempt, he stumbles his way over to the bed and collapses onto the white sheets. His head still throbbing as he dozes off into a fitful sleep.
He awakes to a loud noise coming from the other side of the room. Sitting up too quickly again, he grabs at his sore head with one hand and rubs his eyes with the other. It doesn’t stop him from getting up to find the noise that won’t quit blaring throughout the room.
Making his way over to the bathroom sink, he realizes that it’s his cell phone ringing on the counter. Reaching out to answer it right before it goes to voicemail. The call is from Lexi.

Editing – Project: Not Like Everyone Else
Well, if I thought my motivation for writing was bad this week than my editing was even worse. To say that I didn’t do much is an understatement. I only did some editing one day this past week.
I have only a week and a half left to get through the last 50 pages of draft 3. I can only hope that I will get it done before the end of this month.
Total Pages Edited This Week – 8 pages
This week has been a single obstacle that usually hits many NaNoers. I’m still on track to complete the 50k word goal and win NaNoWriMo. It’s going to take a lot of effort on my part, but I am ready to take on the challenge. Some great blog posts that I’ve been reading for motivation are written by Jenn over at A Page of Jenniely (I’ve linked to my favorite post). Please check her daily NaNo inspiration posts out as they are simply amazing! 😍 As always, you can follow my NaNo journey each week as I post every Monday!
Keep writing! 💗
