NaNoWriMo 2017 is here! That means writing and writing and more writing. All day, every day. Well kind of. And of course, I have a lovely FREE download below!
This NaNo season I am taking on two goals. (1) write that 50k words by the end of November (I’m hoping for more, but that never seems to happen) and (2) finish the final edits of Not Like Everyone Else.
I have been putting off editing so much that I am using this month to catch back up. Most of my November posts I’ve already pre-written and scheduled, so I have a little bit of extra time to get it done. So with that let’s look at what I’ve accomplished in the first 5 days of NaNo.
Writing – Project: Untitled
Option #2: A guy wakes up and has no clue what has happened. He is where he fell, but things look different and yet still the same. It’s when he is driving down the road that he realizes the past is all around him, acting as if nothing has changed. He knows better though because it’s 2017 and that building he just drove by was demolished years ago.
I really am excited to write this book, and share the details of it with you all as I write! Currently, I have yet to come up with a title for this NaNo project. I have started playing with names, but I’m not ready to share just yet. Maybe I’ll share more with you next week if I have time to think about it, and maybe even do a poll!
The next thing is that I figured out how I want it to end! I know I’ve skipped a lot of the in between here, but it is just so perfect. I can’t help myself. Now I just need to figure out how to get to that point. But I’ve heard this very amazing quote that I know isn’t the exact quote, but I can’t find it anymore so I’ll show you my own rendition.
I’ll be living by this quote as I write chapter by chapter.
This is the first NaNoWriMo that I’m organized! I may not have a clue about the next chapter or what’s going to happen, but I have all of the methods to be organized. If you download the FREE sheets below you will get all of the sheets that I will be using during the month.
(1) Detailed Character Sheet
(2) Basic Character Sheet
(3) Basic Setting Sheet
(4) Chapter Organization Sheet
All of these sheets have helped me with my last novel, with the exception of the Chapter sheet. I usually don’t write chapters during NaNo, but this year is different. I created a sheet that will help me keep track of chapter details and characters in the chapter. With it, I’m hoping that it will make it easier to edit in the Now What? Months. So if you’re interested in the sheets, scroll to the bottom of the page and put in your email address.
Total Words Written With Sprints – 5968 words
Total Words Written Without Sprints – 2757 words
Total Words Written – 8725 words
Editing – Project: Not Like Everyone Else
Since I finished editing draft 2, I’ve printed out a hard copy to edit for draft 3. It is nice to give my eyes a break from the computer screen that I stare at blankly for hours of any given day trying to increase my word count. This edit is going by a bit smoother than the others, only a few corrections here and there. Hopefully, the rest of the book goes smoother.
I also am designing the cover for Not Like Everyone Else, and so far it is coming along well. I hope to complete it within the next week and possibly have a cover reveal by the end of this month!
Total Pages Edited This Week – 10 pages
Cover completion – almost complete
I’m off to (what I think) is a pretty good start for this NaNo season. Although I’m not sure what this month brings, I can always hope that things will stay looking up! I’m clearly really excited as this post was a lot shorter in my head. . . aw well! I hope you enjoyed reading my first NaNoWriMo 2017 update!
